At the May 16, 2013 Annual Dinner, we presented the Community Service Award to Tracy Skaddan.

2013 Tracy Skaddan

Tracy Skaddan is proud to be the General Counsel for Planned Parent‐hood of the Pacific Southwest, the nation’s second largest Planned Parenthood affiliate. She began serving on the PPPSW Board of Directors in 2006 and was elected Chair of the Board in 2009. She is an accomplished leader in advo‐cating for reproductive healthcare services and her current work as General Counsel is a perfect fit combining her passion for protecting reproductive rights and her legal expertise. Tracy has also served on the Board and as an Officer of Planned Parenthood’s Action Fund, the political advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood. She was also recognized by the Coalition for Reproduc‐tive Choice for her exceptional leadership with the Defender of Choice Award in January, 2011.

Tracy is a trained litigator who practiced primarily in Los Angeles for her first thirteen years. Her legal experience focused primarily on product liability cases with an emphasis on complex catastrophic accidents.

After moving from Los Angeles to San Diego in 1999, Tracy joined the Lawyers Club of San Diego and quickly became active in the Community Outreach Committee, which she co‐chaired for many years. She became a Board of Director in 2002 and was elected President of the Lawyers Club in 2004. In the last decade she has devoted countless hours to many projects serving the women and children of the San Diego community. She has been a member of the Lawyers Club’s Advisory Board since 2005. For the last two years she has been a speaker for Lawyer’s Club luncheons discussing the current political, legal and community status related to reproductive health.

Committed to community service, Tracy and her girls Lily and Lucy (ages 10 and 9) have be‐come involved with many volunteer efforts to better serve the needs of our community. After years of supporting the Alliance for African Assistance, they recently began offering their home to the organization to host refugee families who arrive in San Diego without housing. Their first experience was hosting an Afghan family of five whom they cared for in their home for over a month, and continue to support while they now live in independent housing. Tracy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and political science from Col‐gate University in 1986 and earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, her hometown, in 1990. She lives in Mission Hills with her two daughters, Lily and Lucy. In her spare time she enjoys running, playing the piano, and traveling. She is also a pilot with an instrument and commercial rating.
