With clients spanning industries from medical devices to fashion, she represents clients in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret portfolio development and monetization; IP litigation; licensing negotiations; NDA’s; inter partes reviews; ITC customs enforcement anti-counterfeit efforts; and general business. Her Lawyers Club involvement includes mentorship, co-chair of Professional Advancement, Bylaws, and Membership committees. Cotman serves pro bono as a Temporary Judge in SDSC Small Claims. Cotman holds a JD, MBA, BSBA, and AA in Fashion Design.

Roxy Carter is an attorney at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, where she specializes in summary civil litigation, specifically focusing on unlawful detainers. While at Legal Aid she has worked extensively to help consumers obtain and retain access to healthcare services in San Diego County. Roxy received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of California Irvine and a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego School of Law. After graduating and passing the California State Bar, she travelled throughout Latin America, volunteering as a Pro Bono attorney with environmental and marine conservation organizations internationally.

Elvira Cortez is an attorney at Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, where she practices business, commercial, and employment litigation.  Her experience includes representing businesses in a variety of legal matters, including breach of contract, trademark and copyright infringement, interference with business advantage, and defending employment lawsuits.  Elvira received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and Juris Doctorate from American University College of Law.  Elvira has been named in the San Diego Business Journal's Best of the Bar for 2016 and 2017. Elvira previously co-chair Lawyers Club’s Annual Dinner Committee and Diverse Women’s Committee.

Carla Sanderson is in-house counsel at LPL Financial where she provides legal guidance on employment matters.  Previously, she was in private practice where she did employment litigation and counseling. Carla received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and her law degree from California Western School of Law. Since joining Lawyers Club, she has held several leadership roles within Lawyers Club, including co-chair of the Student Committee, Annual Dinner Committee, and co-editor of Lawyers Club’s newsletter. In 2016, Carla was awarded the C. Hugh Friedman New Lawyer Award for her work in championing Lawyers Club’s mission.


Rebecca Zipp

Rebecca Zipp was the 2015 recipient of the C. Hugh Friedman New Lawyer Award. She also represented Lawyers Club on the Board of California Women Lawyers. She has chaired the Coalition for Reproductive Justice and co-chair Lawyers Club’s Women’s Advocacy Committee.  Rebecca also serves on the Board of Ohr Shalom Synagogue. She works at the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office and has tried forty cases to jury verdict. Rebecca is assigned to the Economic Crimes division where she focuses her practice on securities and real estate fraud.





Kimberly Ahrens

Kimberly Ahrens continues to serve Lawyers Club, as she has since 2005, as a dedicated member and leader. Last year, Ahrens helped form the LGBTQ Task Force which gained committee status after just eight months. The committee coordinated various events acknowledging and addressing the unique challenges of LGBTQ attorneys and law students, including The Ask Workshop: 3 Secrets to Asking for More (and Getting It), the LGBTQ Rights Up For Interpretation?, a booth at San Diego Pride She Fest, and a Lawyers Club contingent to march in the Pride Parade. Over the years, she has served on the Diverse Women’s, Professional Advancement, and Events Committees where she helped organize numerous events including the inaugural Equal Pay Day Luncheon, the Annual Women of Color Reception, the Fall Judicial Reception, and luncheons. Outside of Lawyers Club, Ahrens devotes her work ethic and passion for diversity to our community by representing victims of discrimination and harassment.  



Yahairah Aristy

Yahairah Aristy is a Deputy Public Defender in the Public Defender’s Office since 2005 and handles a wide array of felony cases. She earned her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. She is an alumna of The Women Campaign School at Yale University. Yahairah serves as the President for the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation. She previously served as the Vice President, Secretary, Chair of the 2018 Annual Gala and Co-Chair of the 2017 Annual Gala. Yahairah serves as a board director for Lawyers Club of San Diego and is the Affiliate Governor for the board of directors for the California Women Lawyers. Yahairah co-chairs the Lawyers Club Diverse Women’s Committee, and previously co-chaired the Membership Development and Law Student Outreach Committees. Yahairah serves as a board member for transcenDANCE. Yahairah served as a steering committee member and Vice President for the Political Action Committee for the National Women Political Caucus – San Diego Chapter.





Brigid Campo

Brigid Campo is a Certified Family Law Specialist and was appointed as a Research Staff Attorney for the San Diego Superior Court. Campo has been named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers since 2015 and was the recipient of the SDCBA's 2016 Award for Outstanding Service by a New Attorney in recognition of her commitment to community service and pro bono work. While serving Lawyers Club, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors, Campo's leadership roles have included chairing the Leadership Development Committee, Work-Life Balance Committee, Reproductive Justice Committee, and East County Working Group. She is currently a co-chair of the Mediation Task Force, and the Chair of the SDCBA's Community Service Committee. Her favorite role of all, though, is as mother to her young son.

Maggie Schroedter

Maggie Schroedter is a business and bankruptcy litigator at Higgs Fletcher & Mack, LLP. She represents businesses and individuals as both debtors and creditors, as well as in bankruptcy litigation and bankruptcy appeals. Maggie’s litigation experience also includes complex business disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, intentional business torts, and preference and fraudulent transfer matters. Currently, Maggie is co-chair of the Membership Development Committee. Previously, Maggie served as co-editor of Lawyers Club News, led the team that spearheaded the inaugural Equal Pay Day Luncheon to raise awareness of gender pay inequality, and co-chaired the Equality and Action, Leadership Development and Student Committees.  She was recently selected as a 2018 American Bar Association On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyer, as well as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Amanda Singer is the co-owner and professional family mediator of San Diego Family Mediation Center where she works with couples going through divorce and other family conflicts who want to be able to stay out of court, keep their costs down and not hate each other at the of the process. Amanda is a graduate of Brandies University, Chapman University School of Law and Pepperdine University School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. Amanda also sits on the board of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. Currently Amanda is co-chair of the Law Firm Outreach committee and previously chaired Networking Events and the Red White and Brew fundraiser event.

Outside of Lawyers Club, Arlene is co-chair of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Committee, and a past-president of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego. Arlene has extensive experience counseling and advising non-profit organizations and serves on the Board of Directors of transcenDANCE Youth Arts Project. Arlene is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University School of Law.
