2021 Pay It Forward FAQ

Pay it Forward Program FAQ for Donors

How do I contribute to Pay It Forward?
To contribute to pay it forward, access Lawyers Club’s online store where you can find Pay It Forward purchase options. Increments range from $10 to $175 and product descriptions include examples of what dollar amounts might cover in terms of memberships. You can also select more than one option to get to the amount you wish to contribute overall.

Who will receive a membership as a result of the funds raised?

All those who are eligible to join Lawyers Club will be allowed to submit an application for a sponsored membership. Selection of sponsored memberships will be at the discretion of the Lawyers Club Board of Directors, and shall occur on an ongoing monthly basis as funds become available.

What amount is suggested to participate in Pay it Forward?

While there is no minimum or maximum dollar amount that can be contributed to Pay it Forward, memberships range from $30 for law students to $175 for individual memberships for lawyers licensed for 15 years or more, and new memberships are $50. A $75 contribution would cover the entire membership for a non-profit attorney or member licensed 2-6 years.

What will the sponsored member receive?

The sponsored member will receive a contribution toward their individual Lawyers Club membership dues, in full or in part, and upon payment in full toward that member’s dues category, the member shall receive all rights and benefits held by a member in the same category.

No Pay it Forward funds will be designated to a Supporting Level membership (i.e. President’s Circle, Patron, or Sustainer), though sponsoring members can elect to cover such membership dues on an individual basis outside the Pay it Forward   -- please contact the Executive Director to make such arrangements.

What will the donor member receive?

Members who elect to contribute to the sponsorship of another member’s dues will have the sincere gratitude of Lawyers Club and the sponsored member, although the sponsored members will remain anonymous. You will receive a receipt setting forth the amount contributed by email, unless another form of receipt is requested.

If you elect to be included in a published list of sponsoring members (which could include in the Lawyers Club newsletter, Lawyers Club website, and event programs), we will include your name, although you can chose to remain an anonymous contributor.

Pay it Forward Program FAQ for Recipients

Who will receive a membership as a result of the funds raised?

All those who are eligible to join Lawyers Club will be allowed to submit an application for a sponsored membership. Applications for the FY2021 membership year will be available starting June 18, 2020. Selection of sponsored memberships will be at the discretion of the Lawyers Club Board of Directors, and shall occur on an ongoing monthly basis as funds become available. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to turn in all application materials as early as possible, and ideally in June of each year; although consideration will be given to all applicants when funds are available.

President’s Circle, Patron, or Sustainer).

How much does the recipient receive?

If you are selected to receive a contribution toward your Lawyers Club membership dues, the contribution amount allocated to you will be credited to the total balance of your membership. If the contribution you receive does not cover the entire cost of your membership category, you will be required to pay the remaining balance due within two weeks or the funds will be reallocated. Upon receipt of your membership dues in full, you will have a full membership with all benefits inured to your membership category through the remaining membership year, which restarts each July.

You will receive a receipt by email for any amount of the membership dues you pay directly.

Your participation in the Pay it Forward program will not be disclosed to anyone other than the Lawyers Club Board of Directors and Lawyers Club staff, and such disclosure is made to administer the program.
