We seek to achieve our mission through action-based initiatives and programs, to spread awareness, and to empower women and advocate for the advancement of women in the law and society. With our dedicated leadership and members, we focus on creating change to continue the work begun by our founders, in supporting reproductive justice, working towards gender equality, combating sexual harassment in the workplace, combating domestic violence, and combating human trafficking.

Workplace Equity & Civility Initiative: Visit WECI website here. Since 2017 Lawyers Club has participated in the Workplace Equity Initiative, now called the Workplace Equity & Civility Initiative. In 2019, the Lawyers Club board approved the adoption of the Workplace Equity Commitment.

Equal Rights Amendment
: From our origins in 1972, gender equality has remained at the forefront of our focus. At only the second meeting of this organization on July 11, 1972, following election of our first officers (Judith McConnell, Christine Pate, Lynn Schenk, Sharron Voorhees, and Louise DeCarl Malugen), the new board voted to create the Equal Rights Amendment Committee to pursue the ratification of the ERA and to address the barriers to passage of the ERA. The State of California ratified the ERA in November, 1972, but the ERA failed to be ratified by the the requisite number of states before the deadline imposed in 1979 by the U.S. Congress to do so.
In every year since 1983, the Equal Rights Amendment has been reintroduced into the U.S. Congress and has yet to be passed.
