Sexual Harassment Task Force
Share |
After presentation of our Sexual Harassment Summit program in November, 2017, and in response to the national dialogue on sexual harassment and the "Me, Too" movement, in February, 2018, the Lawyers Club Board of Directors created the Sexual Harassment Task Force.

The Sexual Harassment Task Force is intended to provide an exploratory forum to determine the larger role of Lawyers Club in this debate, to explore issues surrounding sexual harassment in the legal community, and to create solutions to help prevent women from leaving the practice of law due to sexual harassment in the workplace.
At the November 2017 Summit, a Sexual Harassment Toolkit was presented to encourage preliminary discussion and thinking about potential solutions to this problem. The Sexual Harassment Task Force is working to develop more detailed toolkits for use by employees and employers in the legal community and in other industries.
Olga Álvarez and Danna Cotman, Lawyers Club Presidents for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, respectively, and the co-chairs of the Sexual Harassment Task Force, Alreen Haeggquist and Jennifer Rubin, are engaged in the Workplace Equity Initiative, an initiative of San Diego City Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry. The goal of the Workplace Equity Initiative is to bring together a diverse group of San Diegans to explore the topic of workplace equity further, which impacts people of all genders in every field and at every level, to raise awareness of the issues, to equip those in need with the tools to address these hurdles, and to develop a code of conduct for San Diego employers. See Ms. Álvarez' presentation to the working group in May 2018 here. Lawyers Club will continue to have a presence on this initiative and is actively developing toolkits and resources for this effort.
